About Us
Sahil & Sarthak are designers working in the field of Lifestyle Products, Spatial Design, Jewellery and Graphic Design, since 2001, both in India and Italy. During their stay in Milan, they have worked with some of the most prestigious names in the world of design. They are designers with diverse design backgrounds, who have mastered the art of synchronizing their individual creative expressions to create projects and objects that are bold and reflective, provocative yet poetic.
Sahil did his Bachelor in Fine Arts, in applied arts, from College of Art, Delhi. He has been awarded with the Makhan Datta Gupta Award for his excellence at College of Art and the 2nd Best Painting Award from All India Fine Arts & Craft Society in 1998. Sahil began his career in 2002 with Vibhor Sogani, working on Indian lifestyle products. In 2004, Sahil joined Times Group, 360 Degrees, as a senior designer for spatial and interior design. His grasp on spatial design allows him to interpret how exactly do people and objects correspond with their environment. He has a passion to work with ecological materials and sustainable techniques.
Sarthak comes from a product design background. After receiving his Bachelor Degree in Home accessories and Lifestyle products from N.I.F.T. Delhi, he started his career in 2001 as a jewellery designer in Mumbai, at a high end jewellery export house. Sarthak joined the famous Sanghavi Group in 2005 as the design head, and represented Sanghavi in many international fairs and exhibitions, exposing him to the State of the Art, in the field of luxury and design. His experience in the jewellery and lifestyle products, equips him with an eye for details and the understanding of materials and manufacturing techniques.
Sarthak remains very passionate about working with Indian crafts and materials. He has been a part of workshops organized by N.I.F.T. and Dastkar, where he has worked with craft communities as a part of rehabilitation strategy.
In the year 2006, seeing their body of work, the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce awarded both of them with full scholarships to pursue higher education in Milan, in the field of Design. From 2006 to 2008, Sahil and Sarthak successfully completed their Master of Design in “Product Service System Design”, from Politecnico di Milano, Italy. They took part in many challenging projects under the guidance of famous designers and architects such as Claudio Silvestrin, Ezio Manzini, Clino Trini Castelli and Markus Benesch.
During their stay in Italy, they were selected to take part in the prestigious furniture design Project for 6 months, called Project I-Nova, organized by Scoula Politecnica di Design Milan and the Italian furniture company, Poltrona Frau Group (Cassina, Cappellini, Alias and Poltrona Frau). Subsequently, both Sahil and Sarthak worked for the avant-garde furniture company Cappellini Design SpA, under the mentorship of veteran Architect/Designer Giulio Cappellini, where they concentrated their efforts in designing & developing furniture, retail, interior and visual communication.
Realizing the scope of design in Indian market, and their passion to explore further Indian material and techniques for the international market, Sahil and Sarthak opened their studio in India in 2009 where they design projects and objects that imbibe the true sense of design, ecology, ethics and a contemporary culture.
