Recently, we’ve been toying with the idea of a device that would combine all the best elements of Spotify and Last.FM, but in a real world environment. So, the Vim & Vigor Team hunkered down and designed an elegant solution. Enter: Jukey.
Jukey joins social media with social life like never before. A jukebox re-envisioned for the 21st century, Jukey brings people together for a shared music listening experience that plays tunes that are sure to be a hit. Put simply, Jukey pools the favorite and most commonly occurring tracks on all devices connected to its network, and DJ’s from the songs that appear most often, guaranteeing a soundtrack that everyone present will love.
The Jukey system consists of hardware and the corresponding app. The hardware itself is a statement piece, minimal, interactive and intuitive.
In Auto, Jukey takes over the party and creates playlists based on one of three modes: genre, shuffle and popular songs. Users can then vote the song up or down, so Jukey can fine tune its choices.
What’s more, friends who couldn’t make the party can still join in the fun. Playlists can be uploaded to social networks so that those who missed the party can not only attend virtually, but can DJ remotely as well. Later on, the fun can be relived by referring back to the same uploaded playlist. Users can go and download their new favorite songs, adding them to their own libraries for future listening.
