Remington Touch Control Trimmer

Client: Remington Grooming

Remington® came to us with a challenge.

A competitor in Europe had just introduced a beard trimmer with something new in the category: an integrated motorized comb. Remington needed to add this feature and circumnavigate significant IP issues while doing so.

No problem for us. We do that all the time. The big question was, how could we leapfrog the competition so Remington did more than introduce a “me too” product?

Remington had the idea of incorporating an LCD screen into their trimmer. Interesting, but not really revolutionary.

So, we invited them to our offices where our team of designers, electrical engineers, firmware programmers introduced the idea of incorporating a capacitive touch user interface into the trimmer and demonstrated how it would work with a crude prototype.

After that, it was full speed ahead. Our integrated team was able to complete the research, design and engineering in just a few months.

The result is the Remington Touch Control Trimmer, a product so advanced and so damned good looking that Walmart negotiated exclusive rights to launch it in the U.S.

“We’re excited to be leading the market with this new technology,” said the Global Director of New Product Development for Remington, “and pleased that our productive partnership with RedFusion made it possible.”
