Saphenous Vein Harvesting Instrument

Client: Saphena Medical Inc

Baren-Boym Product Design Company has worked with Saphena Medical (http://saphenamedical.com) to design and develop endoscopic vein harvesting instrument. We provided mechanical engineering and industrial design services for the distal tip and the handle design, including ID and ME for internal mechanisms.
The distal end of the Venapax Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting System contains a soft, elastomeric tip that remains closed during dissection to provide a smooth, gradual surface transition. The transition tip expands when the electrodes are deployed for use.

The electrodes can be easily deployed or retracted as needed during dissection. Precise control is delivered via bi-directional, circumferential rotation of electrodes. This allows for easy access to all vessel side branches because the device can be easily positioned for all orientations. Bi-polar cauterization treats tissue placed between electrodes on either side where the double-sided blade cuts tissue after cauterization.
